Why do people use Cascade?
It’s easy for suppliers like Cascade to get embroiled with which big names use our systems. In reality though, a solution’s success is usually based on how actual people use it.
For HR departments, Payroll teams, Line Managers or Employees the user’s experience is key. Is it easy to use, is it flexible, does it have a pleasant interface, does it help or hinder? All questions that centre around ‘how does it do it?’ rather than ‘what does it do?’ that are often considered of minor importance during the selection process but become paramount when living with a system every day.
"What should it do?" leads to "How should it do it?"
Recognising this has led to a change in how we do things at Cascade. Since 2004 when we moved from our old, traditional systems to our new .net system we made sure that every time we developed functionality to meet the ‘What does it do?’ question we asked our clients, ‘How should it do it?’.
It was a revolution for our clients and a revelation for our staff that led us from being a minor supplier to being the fastest growing and leading supplier of HR and Payroll solutions in our sector (Cascade have been listed in ‘Who’s Who’ as one of the top 1% of growing companies of recent years).
So, why do people use Cascade (rather than why do they choose it!).
Well, mainly because we listen. We listen and we hear, for example:
- I want to see what is important to me when I log in!
- I want to have multiple roles when I log in to do different tasks.
- I want to change screens myself, I don’t want to pay you to do it.
- I want the system to help me through processes, not to have to read a manual to find out how.
- I want to choose what users can see and do, not have that dictated to me by separate interfaces!
- I want everything from one supplier, I want responsibility and support from one place.
- I don’t want to have to remember where screens are, why can’t it send me the right ones for what I want to do?.
- I want to write reports myself, not constantly refer to IT.
- I want to access the system when I am out of the office and get the same features!
- I want the system to look and feel like our system, with our branding and I want control of that.
- I expect the system to adapt as we adapt our business and HR service without more and more cost to us!
And a long list of similar expectations. We just said ‘OK’. Simple as that. You want a system, you know what you want, all we do is listen and develop it. What could be simpler?
